Rosa and Carmelo had five children. We
assume they were married about 1885 and lived in in Bagheria
(near Palermo), Sicily, known birthplace of their first born son.
Carmelo first traveled alone to the United States in 1898. In 1900,
he again traveled to the United States, this time with his 14 year old
son, Carmelo. Father left son with friends in Chicago, IL, we assume
to experience a better life in the great United States. In 1918,
Carmelo traveled to the United States for the 3rd time, bringing his 15
year old son John Joseph to join his brother. He then returned to
his home and wife Rosa. He is described as "a man of extraordinary
goodness and generosity" by family members. |
