Antonina, born in Beaver Falls, PA. in 1892,
was the daughter of Frank and Frances Daquila. She was known as Lena by
her family and friends. She was one of six children. Carmelo
was born in Bagheria (near
Palermo), Sicily in 1886. He was brought to the United States by
his father in 1900 at the age of 14. He and Antonina were married
in 1911 and had seven children. They lived in Aliquippa, PA, a small
steel town on the Ohio River, north of Pittsburgh, PA. Among Carmelo's
business interests were an automobile dealership and a wholesale produce
business operated by himself and his two brothers. Carmelo passed
away in 1955 and Antonina in 1980. After Carmelo's death, the produce
business was operated by his eldest son Carmen. |
